The Snow Baby, Eskimo or Teddy doll ....was first introduced in the late 1890s. According to history the doll was manufactured particularly in Germany after the birth of Admiral Perrys first child in Greenland. She was named Marie Ahnighito with the middle name honoring the woman who made the child's first fur clothing. This child then became known around the world as The Snow Baby ....the first white child born that far north. See photo of books below. ~ Karen's first Snow Baby design "Nanook" from 2005 is being reintroduced for a short period of time. Nanook is 17.5" tall and made in antique brown distressed mohair. The doll has dark tan mits and boots , ivory tea stained bow and a curled peak hood. Her arms & legs are jointed. She is stuffed
with
polyfil & pellets. 2 small round tinsel ball buttons adorn the front. |
