Large Chanticleer Doll

This large Rooster Doll as per the French name "Chanticleer"  ....was first manufactured in the early 1900s in France. According to history the Chanticleer  as a character with a human voice was introduced in the 1500s by Geoffrey Chaucer in The Canterbury Tales.

Karen's first Chanticleer  design was created in 2006 &  she reintroduced this large doll for a short period of time. This most proud Rooster is 14" tall  and made in antique curry gold distressed mohair. The doll has gold velvet jointed legs & red & gold wool felt wings, a tail and head comb.  

He is stuffed with polyfil & pellets.

The beautiful head is an Armand Marseille antique bisque from Germany with brown glass eyes.
